ST. LOUIS — Nordstrom will lay off 135 workers when the department store closes at the St. Louis Galleria later this summer.
The company notified the state of the layoffs in a letter this week and said that certain employees will have the opportunity to transfer to other Nordstrom locations.Â
Affected workers include 31 salespeople, 23 logistics processors, 14 counter managers, baristas, tailors, alterations sewers and more.Â
Mall officials said that the Nordstrom store will be replaced by a Dick's House of Sport, a larger and more experiential shopping concept from Pittsburgh-based Dick's Sporting Goods.Â
Nordstrom opened at the St. Louis Galleria, complete with 30 personal stylists, in 2011. Locally, the company has Nordstrom or Nordstrom Rack locations at West County Center, Brentwood Square and Manchester Highlands shopping centers.
