St. Ann — A woman whose power had been disconnected was found dead in a hot apartment Monday, said St. Ann police.
Shauna Thomas, 55, was found by her son in the apartment they shared in the 10100 block of Cabana Club Drive.
The power had been turned off for two weeks, said Maj. Blake Carrigan of the St. Ann police. Temperatures reached into the mid-90s Monday.
Initial reports said the apartment had no water, but that wasn't accurate, Carrigan said.Â
Family told police that Thomas had underlying medical conditions. Heat could be a factor in the death, and an autopsy is planned, he said.Â
The windows in the apartment were closed when Thomas’ body was found, and Carrigan said crime scene investigators determined that the indoor temperature had dropped to 86 degrees less than an hour after windows were opened.
