Cardinals pitcher Tink Hence throws live batting practice on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2025, as spring training continues at the team’s training facility in Jupiter, Fla.
After winning the first half North Division title and clinching a spot in the Texas League playoffs on Thursday, Class AA Springfield was going to have a difficult time exceeding the highs of such achievement on Friday.Â
But that's exactly what happened.Â
Exactly 365 days after throwing a combined no-hitter, Springfield (ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥) did it again in a 1-0 win over Corpus Christi.Â
What was different this time, however, is that the combined no-no was over a full nine innings. Last year's feat was accomplished in a seven-inning contest, as Springfield was playing the first game of a doubleheader. Friday's achievement is the first nine-inning no-hitter in Springfield history.Â
Tink Hence started the contest, making his first Class AA appearance of 2025. He struck out eight batters in 4 1/3 innings. The only baserunner he allowed came via a walk. Hence's fastball topped out at 96 miles per hour. Hence was on a pitch count, and he ended up throwing just 66 pitches.Â

On Friday night, Springfield didn't waste away.
Instead, the Cardinals made history ... again.Â
